If you venture around the grounds, you will be sure to see some wildlife such as beavers, wolves, the nationally rare Eastern Bluebird, Cooper’s Hawk, along with diverse vegetative species as well as Ontario’s only lizard, the five-lined skink, can all be spotted around the Barrens.

Please also remember, you are in bear country and it is best to keep that in mind and stay safe while enjoying your trip.

A wonderful spot to hike, with wonderful views as you pass over the boardwalks and through the barren lands - makes a nice little change from the wooded, forested areas commonly hiked.

Not only a great hiking and nature watching spot but the Barrens is also a great spot for star gazing, seeing the milky way, astrophotography and occasionally seeing the aurora borealis - so don't forget your camera and telescope if you have one!

Torrance Barrens is a place I have visited more than once over the last few years. I'd say, Over the last year, I have found that the barrens has become more popular, and it tends to be busier the last times I went; which actually caused me to leave a little earlier than I would have liked once... however - none the less, it is beautiful land to explore and I know I will return.

With that being said, please help do your part to try to keep it tidy, and take your garbage home with you.

It only stays beautiful and protected if we care for it and protect it.

                            Enjoy your trip!
